Macus Alonso is an interdisciplinary artist from Vigo, Spain. Traveling throughout the world has greatly influenced her practice. She began experimenting with jewelry while living in West Africa and since then has expanded to textiles. She had the opportunity to work with a loom and since then has not stopped weaving. Macus received her Master of Studio Art at Northern Illinois University, Dekalb, IL and her Bachelors degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has had her pieces on display at SOFA, CAD, Oliva Gallery, Woman Made Gallery, Compound Yellow, Hyde Park Art Center, Bridgeport Art Center, Olson Gallery and many other Chicago galleries. She was an artist resident at Chicago Art Department from 2019 to 2021. She is currently focusing on process and fiber art.
